Questions about the AEO score
What is AEO?
Answer Engine Optimization means making your website easy for AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI answers to find, understand and quote. It builds on SEO, but the goal is to be the source an AI cites.
How is the AEO score calculated?
We run 20 checks in five groups: crawlable, readable, structured, trusted and citable. Each check is weighted by how much it matters to answer engines, for a total of 100 points.
Why do you only read the raw HTML?
Most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript. If your content only appears after scripts load, they see an almost empty page. We read your site the same way they do.
Does a high score mean ChatGPT will cite my site?
No tool can promise that. A high score means nothing technical is stopping AI from reading and quoting you. What actually gets cited still depends on your content and reputation.
Should I block AI crawlers in robots.txt?
Only if you don't want to appear in AI answers. Blocking GPTBot or ClaudeBot keeps them out of your site, and that also keeps you out of their answers.
